New Features

On Monday, November 17, 2025, TADL launched a new catalog. Here are answers to the questions we anticipate most from patrons.

Do I need to update my bookmarks or go to a different web address?

No, we are creating redirects so you don’t have to update your bookmarks, favorites, or links to continue accessing the catalog the same way you always have.

Will my username or password change?

No, you can continue using your existing username and password. If you don’t know your username, you can use your library card number to log in.

Can I still edit my contact information and notification preferences for holds?

Yes, you have the ability to update your hold notification phone number and email address, as well as your preferences for how you receive notifications. You can also update your default hold pick-up location or select a different hold pick-up location at the time of placing the hold. To update your hold notification preferences, go to Account Settings. However, if you need to update your home address or primary phone number, please visit any one of our TADL branches with a valid photo ID/proof of address.

Will I still be able to find my MeLCat ID?

Yes, your MeLCat ID can be found in Your Account summary page and Your Library Card page.

Will I still be able to use my digital library barcode?

Yes, your digital library barcode can be found in Your Account > Your Library Card, which you may continue to use at the self-checkouts or while visiting a service desk at any of our libraries.

Can I still create lists?

Yes, you can still create public and private lists when logged into your account. When you log into your account on the new catalog for the first time, we encourage you to import your lists from the old catalog. In Your Account, go to Your Lists and click Import From Old Catalog. Allow a few minutes for the lists to process and appear on the page. In the new catalog, you now have the ability to copy or move items to your other lists, in addition to adding notes on items, creating a description, or sharing links to public lists with other people.

Can I still track my reading history?

Yes, you can still track your reading history for past and current checkouts in the new catalog. Go to Your Account > Reading History and click Start Recording My Reading History. Allow a few minutes for your history to process and appear on the page. In the new catalog, when you search for a title that you have borrowed before, it will show the month and year that the item was last checked out by you. Please note that after opting in, if you choose to opt out or delete your reading history, it cannot be recovered again.

Will the mobile app go away?

No, the TADL mobile app will continue to exist as you know it, with the potential for new features in the future. If you haven’t yet downloaded the app, check it out here or find it in your phone’s app store: https://www.tadl.org/apps

Is the tadl.org website changing?

No, the tadl.org website will continue to exist as you know it.

What’s changed about the catalog?

The catalog (catalog.tadl.org) is now hosted by a vendor that TADL has been partnering with on other services for many years. We are doing our best to ensure a seamless experience in the new catalog to what you know and love. The major changes that you will notice includes:

  • A different look and feel to the catalog interface;
  • Integrated electronic resources, with items available from Libby and Hoopla shared in search results;
  • Search in the library catalog to see both physical items and their digital versions;
  • See all available formats for a given title at once as a grouped work;
  • Search in the online catalog to see digital versions only;
  • Filter for physical items only in search results;
  • See events related to your search queries coming up at our libraries;
  • See placards guiding you on other resources not in the catalog that relate to what you’re searching for;
  • Save your searches when logged into your account to run again at any time;
  • And enable your reading history to see what you’ve checked out in a list on your account and be informed in search results that you checked out that item in month and year.

What is a “grouped work”?

When you do a search and see a list of different formats available for a given expression of a work, that is called the grouped work. Different expressions are represented by the original book, its movie version, a translated version, an annotated version, and more. The new catalog uses matching title, author or publisher, language, and other data to show you all of the available formats for that expression of a work, so that you may make informed decisions about which format you are most interested in borrowing.

Will the catalog change again?

While we do not plan to change platforms again in the foreseeable future, we are excited to continue rolling out new features that we think will expand the user experience. Keep an eye on this page for more information on new features coming to the catalog.
